CHD Holds Successful Fall Fundraiser

PLEASANT HILL, CA (October 28, 2016)—The Center for Human Development (CHD) hosted its fall fundraiser appropriately titled Throwback to 1972, a nod to the organization’s foundation date, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on September 15, 2016 at the Contra Costa Country Club in Pleasant Hill. It was held to raise funds to support CHD’s community-based programs and services. The night, which drew around 80 people and raised over $6,000.00, was a wonderful success with heavy hors d’oeuvres including a mashed potato bar, wine, music by Stacy Starkweather, a silent auction, which included incredible items like a signed basketball by the Warriors, raffle prizes including various gift cards, and guest speakers.

Put together by CHD’s board members with assistance from staff, the effort paid off, as attendees were able to enjoy themselves and listen to the individual stories of success from CHD’s executive director and multiple program coordinators as they descried the difference the programs have made for the surrounding community.

Vikki Rodriguez, Board President at CHD agreed, “My fellow board members and I are ecstatic at the results of the fundraiser. Everyone had a great time, it was a beautiful and fun night and we definitely exceeded our goals!”

The event was one that CHD and its board members plan to make an annual event.

“We are so thankful and appreciative to everyone that helped put the event together, and to all of our friends, family and colleagues that joined us. I hope this event is just the kick-start of getting more people to know more about CHD and everything we have to offer. I, for sure, am proud to have been involved with the organization these last 8+ years,” Rodriguez said.

Sponsors for this event included Maze and Associates, John Muir Health, and the Sunvalley Shopping Center. CHD is very appreciative of all those who donated items to the silent auction and raffle and to all who volunteered their time.
